Our theme for the term from September through to just before Christmas is the minor prophets; 12 short books at the end of the Old Testament named Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi. The 12 prophecies are known as ‘minor’ because they are short, rather than their message being insignificant! Like the longer prophet books (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel) the prophecies speak to the divided kingdoms of Israel and Judah, and also the naLons that immediately surround them, specifically Edom and the rising regional superpower Assyria
